Secretary of State Tre Hargett paid more than just a visit to Jefferson City Friday as he delivered a check for $100,000 to the Jefferson City Library currently under construction. City, County, and State officials gathered Friday at City Hall to officially receive the money and voice their support for a strong library facility which will serve the community. Jefferson City Mayor Mark Potts recognized Jay Mozier for his generous donation of the land where the library is currently being built. Secretary of State Hargett explained that he was a very small part of the effort to bring the money to the program. He pointed out that Representative Andrew Farmer of the 17th District, and Representative Jeremy Faison of the 11th District were diligent, to say the least, in working to procure these monies for the library. Secretary Hargett pointed out that the entire amount of funds available for the State of Tennessee was $300,000 of which this project had been allocated an entire third. State Representative Andrew Farmer praised the efforts by those who had been instrumental in promoting the program including citizens serving on the City Council, Library Board and Friends Of The Library. Farmer said: “It is the biggest check I’ve ever presented”. The newly appointed Director of the Jefferson City Library, Anjanae Brueland was also on hand for the presentation. Brueland stressed how important it is that the community not only have, but also use the Public Library. Brueland expressed her excitement in seeing the project completed and functioning.

Several sections of steel beams were on hand to be signed and notes written upon, which will become part of the construction framework of the new Jefferson City Library.
