Chocolate Fondue

recipe-dessertChocolate covered strawberries are aplenty around Valentine’s Day, but I think chocolate fondue is much more romantic, not to mention more fun. And it allows you to have a variety of food to dip into the chocolate. You don’t even have to have a fondue pot to make it in. A saucepan on the stove works great, and it is easily transferred to a small slow cooker to keep it warm for dipping.

Ingredients:

1 cup heavy cream

6 oz. milk chocolate chips

6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Food for dipping, such as strawberries, banana slices, pineapple cubes, marshmallows, pound cake, pretzels

Optional flavoring, such as rum, coffee liqueur, or Irish cream

Directions:

Warm the cream over medium-low heat in a small saucepan. Stir in the chocolate until melted. Remove from heat. If desired, add one tablespoon of flavoring.

To keep warm for dipping, pour into a small slow cooker set on low or a fondue pot placed over a candle warmer.
