2015 Jefferson County FCE Quilt Show to Be Held at First Baptist Church in Dandridge, March 27, 2015
The 2015 Jefferson County FCE Quilt Show will be Friday, March 27th at the First Baptist Church in Dandridge. The Family and Community Education (FCE) Clubs of Jefferson County host this show for the community. Entry is open to all residents of Jefferson County and all FCE Club members from any county. The public is invited to view the quilts from 12:45 until 2:00 p.m. Registration of entries will take place the day of the show from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and no quilt can be removed from the show until 2:00 p.m. Quilts will be judged for First through Third place in each category and a Best of Show ribbon will be awarded. A bed turning of antique quilts will take place from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Visitors to the show will select a People’s Choice award. Prior to arrival at registration, entrants are asked to review the rules and determine the category in which their quilt will be entered.
The 2015 Quilt Show Rules are as follows:
1. Only one quilt per entrant per category. The entrant is the owner of the quilt.
2. Quilt must not have been entered in the Jefferson County FCE Quilt Show before.
3. Old quilts (25 years +) must be owned by the entrant but may have been made by someone else.This is a non-judged category and will be displayed in the vestibule as a bed turning during judging from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
4. Attendees will vote for a “People’s Choice” Award.
5. Entrant should determine category in which quilt will be entered prior to arrival, but final category determination will be made by registrant or judging chair.
6. Any resident of Jefferson County or member of FCE (regardless of residence) is eligible to enter.
The 2015 Quilt Show Categories are as follows:
Category 1: Old Quilts (25+ years)
May be any technique– pieced, appliquéd, cross-stitched, mixed techniques
Category 2: Quilt
Cross-stitched, embroidered, or crazy
Category 3: Quilt
Appliquéd, hand or machine, quilted by maker
Category 4: Novelty Quilts
Yo-yo, memory, T-shirt, Cathedral Window, Rag, any tied or tacked quilt
Category 5: Wholecloth
Quilted by hand or machine
Category 6: Quilts made for Children/Babies
Hand or machine pieced, hand or machine quilted
Category 7: Quilts made for Children/Babies
Printed top/panel, hand or machine quilted
Category 8: Quilted Items
Wall hangings, pillows, home décor, etc. except clothing
Category 9: Quilted Clothing
Vest, jacket, skirt, accessories, etc.
Category 10: Quilt
Hand pieced and/or appliquéd by maker, quilted by quilting service
Category 11: Quilt
Machine pieced and/or appliquéd by maker, quilted by quilting service
Category 12: Quilt
Hand pieced, hand quilted totally by maker
Category 13: Quilt
Hand pieced, machine quilted totally by maker
Category 14: Quilt
Machine pieced, machine quilted totally by maker
Category 15: Quilt
Machine pieced, hand quilted totally by maker
Category 16: Quilt
Printed top/panel, quilted totally by maker
Category 17: Group Quilts
Any technique, made by three or more people
Category 18: Recycled
Items made from old quilts (toys, door stops, etc.)
Category 19: Quilts/Quilt Tops made by 4-H
Any technique, machine or hand quilted by 4-H members
