Briggs to Continue Basketball Career at WSCC
Kyle Briggs has decided to continue his basketball career at Walters State Community College. The multi-sport athlete decided to pursue basketball over baseball and golf, because basketball is his “love.”
“Basketball has always been my first love,” Briggs explained. “I decided to go with basketball because it is really what I enjoy doing and Walters State is close to family and home.”
As for Walters State head coach Bill Carlyle, he wished he had 100 Kyle Briggs on his team: “Me and probably everybody else in the country. I like his work ethic.” Carlyle added, “He is an exceptionally hard worker.”
While Walters State is loaded with Division 1 talent this season, Carlyle says that didn’t stop Briggs from competing. “We have got 3 kids, maybe 4, going division 1,” he added, “and Briggs came up and worked out with those guys and really held his own; he didn’t back up an inch.”
Carlyle is not the only coach excited and proud of Kyle. His high school coach, Chris Poore, is as well. “I am just proud of him, it is something he deserves.” He added, “To see him have this opportunity is special; there is really no other way to say that.”
Briggs and Carlyle alike anticipate Briggs playing the 2 (Shooting guard) and the 3 (Small Forward) at Walters State.
