ROBERT “BOB” JAMES ETHERTON

ROBERT JAMES “BOB” ETHERTON, age 88, of Dandridge, TN passed away Saturday afternoon, October 3, 2015 following a brief illness. He was born in Sevier County, TN and raised in the Sandy Ridge community the son of the late Ben and Bessie (Miller) Etherton. Bob worked at Alcoa Aluminum for several years before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he served in World War II as a pilot and medic being discharged with several honors and medals. After his military assignment he met and married the love of his life, Jennie Ann DoViDio in 1954 and raised his family while working for over 40 years as master skilled welder for the Ford Motor Co. in Ypsilanti, MI. He was a member of the Bogarts Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jennie Ann DoViDio-Etherton; sons, Donald Lee Etherton and David James Etherton; step-mother, Nova Etherton; brothers, Raymond, Cleo (Pea) and Amos Etherton; sisters, Bessie Ray and Charity Parrott; sisters-in-law, Charlotte, Lela and Pauline Etherton; brothers-in-law, Tom Moore and Tody Ray. He is survived by his daughter, Melanie D. Etherton-Edmonds of Dandridge; grandchildren, Jason (Stacy) Etherton, Angela Marie Etherton, Scarlett Edmonds and Spencer Edmonds; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Bailey, Alex and Alivia Etherton; brothers, J.B (Jo Ann) Etherton and Herman (Evelyn) Etherton; sister, Rachel Moore; daughter-in-law, Jan Etherton; special friend, Wanda James. The family would like to especially thank Johnny Harrison for the mowing of Mr. Etherton’s grass and the care shown during his illness and also to Steamboat for the many chores and repairs he made around the house and also the medical staff and caregivers at West Hills Health and Rehab Center. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015, 7:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Ladd officiating. Interment graveside services with military honors will be Thursday, 2:00pm at Hills Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00pm at FARRAR FUNERAL HOME, DANDRIDGE 865-397-2711
