That’s what took place at AEC’s community engagement event prior to the Jefferson County Patriots’ home football game with Kingsport on October 23rd.

Co-op members were provided with self-audit forms to complete at their leisure. According to AEC Member Services Director Mitch Cain, the process is a simple one—with a nice pay-back: “You spend about 10 minutes answering easy questions about factors related to your home’s energy efficiency. Return the completed postage-paid form to TVA and you’ll receive an energy efficiency kit valued at $40 in return. It includes things like compact fluorescent light bulbs, low-flow faucet aerators, a whistle to let you know when it’s time to change your HVAC filter, gaskets to prevent air leaks behind wall outlets and light switches, and more. You’ll also receive some helpful suggestions about projects you may wish to undertake to score more energy savings. As a nice little bonus, there’s also a $10 Home Depot gift card inside every kit. That’s a great start toward purchasing caulk, weatherstripping, or many other products that can help you get your home ready for winter.”

The “warm up tonight, warm up this winter” event is another featured event designed to engage AEC members as part of the Co-op’s 75th anniversary.
