Veterans’ Day Salute

editorial-logo3This week brings the opportunity to thank a very important segment of our Nation, our Veterans. Be they 19 or 90, each of these servicemen and servicewomen deserve the gratitude of the citizens of the United States of America. I have witnessed young men and women return from deployment, changed forever by the things that they have witnessed. Certainly, the trials of service are not new and each generation has had their challenges when defending this great Nation. It is a high price that is paid by the Veteran and his or her family. But without their sacrifice, their willingness to back down the wolf that seems to be forever charging the door, our lives would be much different.

No matter what your personal beliefs are regarding war or our involvement in military action is this decade or ones that came before, no man, woman or child can deny that our Veterans are the backbone upon which this great Country is built. From the very first Veterans, who fought to establish our Country and the freedoms that we enjoy to those that fight in wars that that are oceans away, still protecting our freedoms from those that would see us fall because of differing values or religions, they are our true heroes.

Blue state, red state, it shouldn’t matter. On November 11th we are all bound together by the threads of our gratitude. To all the Veterans who did what you did so that the rest of us can continue to do what we do, thank you. We owe you more than we can ever repay and appreciate you more than you will ever know. From the Jefferson County Post, thank you for your service and may God bless our Veterans!
