Night Of Patriots 2015 and Voice Of Democracy

Jefferson County High School students recently honored local Veterans at their annual Night of the Patriots performance. The highly anticipated show had its debut in the newly minted James D. Swann Center for Performing Arts which is located on the main campus of Jefferson County High School. Student performers hosted three shows to accommodate parents, students and Veterans. Local Veterans and their families were treated to a chili supper preceding the show and offered priority seating for the event. Musical numbers, as well as dance and dramatic reading, were a part of this year’s show. David Seal, a teacher at Jefferson County High School, spearheaded the Night of the Patriots and was assisted by a host of staff members that donated many man hours to continue the tradition of stellar performances. The 2015 show was the first show that did not include longtime coordinator, retired Drama teacher Billie Yardley. It was also the final show for Choral Director Kelly Shipe, who was honored for her years of service. This year’s performance marked the return of the event to its regular November time slot after a spring show earlier in 2015 was necessitated by construction on the main campus of Jefferson County High School. Night of the Patriots showcases the high level of talent at Jefferson County High School and offers a wonderful opportunity for one generation to honor the service of another.
