The Biblical Times Dinner Theater is hosting a special fund raiser for the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home. During the week of Dec. 14th through Dec. 19th, patrons can get a 50 percent discount on their tickets to the Biblical Times Dinner Theater’s Christmas Show, if they bring at least one toiletry item that will be donated to the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home.

The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home provides a safe home environment for children and youth displaced by unusual circumstances. Some are orphaned while others are separated from their parents by family difficulties such as homelessness or because of incarceration of the parent. The Home has been providing for the needs of children and youth for 95 years. Currently, the facility is providing a “home away from home” to 65 youth, as well as providing for the needs of 132 children in foster care. In addition, the Home provides an adoption agency where more than forty (40) children have received a forever family.

“There are some orphans here, but sometimes parents are not able to take care of themselves, let alone the insurmountable needs of their own children,” said Tammie Mauldin, public relations director of the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home. “There have been instances when parents are having legal issues, and the children are directed by the courts to come to stay here. We provide for the child’s needs and provide therapy to help get them back on the right track. We really appreciate everything the Biblical Times has done for us. It is a huge blessing to us!”

The Biblical Times Dinner Theater hosted a similar benefit in May of 2015 during which the theater collected more than $2,000 worth of needed supplies. These supplies benefit the children and help the SMCH by saving the facility money.

The Biblical Times Dinner Theater is currently performing the Christmas Story, an inspiring telling of the birth of Christ as witnessed through the eyes of Simeon who had foretold of the coming of the Savior through the prophecies. The theater has been featured numerous times in the media and will soon be featured on the Travel Channel. The theater utilizes state-of-the-art holographic imagery which brings to life Biblical characters such as angels and Simeon himself. Through the magic of computer generated imagery, the holograms interact with a cast of live performers. The cast is an award winning crew of singers that perform gospel music and reenact the story of the birth of Christ.

The show includes a meal of Biblical proportions which include prime rib, chicken, pulled pork, potatoes, vegetable medley, crispy tossed salad, yeast roll, strawberry short cake and unlimited tea and lemonade.

Any guest that brings in at least one toiletry item will get their tickets at half price. These items include: hand soap, towels, shampoo, combs, brushes, hairspray, garbage bags, non-aerosol cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, tooth paste, tooth brushes, mouthwash, deodorant, tissues, toilet paper and feminine hygiene products.

“We have always supported the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home,” said Allan Miller, general manager of the Biblical Times Dinner Theater. “They provide such a valuable service to these children who are in such desperate need. We would like to urge everyone to support this wonderful Christian organization.”
