The Jefferson County Habitat For Humanity hosted their annual High Heels and Hard Hats gala at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jefferson City; High Heels and Hard Hats is a gathering of Habitat volunteers and members of the community to benefit the Race to Racine Ridge project.  Racine Ridge is the first Habitat Neighborhood in Jefferson County, which will provide 14 homes to families who are partnering with Habitat for Humanity.  This special evening was welcomed with wonderful food, good fellowship, live entertainment, and a silent auction, which included a basketball signed by ESPN’s Carolyn Peck.

The event was MC’d by Shiela Wiggins, Executive Director of Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity, who also gave out several awards to area volunteers and organizations who have made a huge impact on the Racine Ridge project. Special guest speakers included Dr. Randall O’Brien, president of Carson-Newman University and Carolyn Peck, ESPN analyst and former Jefferson County resident.

The Racine Ridge neighborhood already has 2 homes with families living in them, and is located off of Crook Road in Jefferson City, on 6.71 acres donated by Jay Moser. The project needed $250,000 to complete infrastructure so construction could begin on the other 12 homes, and, thanks to the many sponsors and partners, over $12,000 was raised during the gala alone.  Shelia Wiggins would also like to express her gratitude to Dr. Randall O’Brien and Carolyn Peck for coming and speaking at the event, the tireless efforts of all the volunteers who made the night possible, the live entertainment, and everyone who attended this wonderful event.
