MILDRED C. PORTER CHILDRESS
MILDRED C. PORTER CHILDRESS, age 95, of Dandridge, TN passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at her home. She was born March 4, 1920 in Knoxville, TN, the daughter of the late Fred and Maude Porter. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Rebecca Porter, Doris Porter, Virginia Boruff; brothers, J.D. Porter, F.L. Porter and Bob Porter. Mildred was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Dandridge and was retired from the Standard Knitting Mills and K-Mart in Knoxville. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Kenneth John Childress; daughter, Teri (Ted) Phillips of Sevierville and Gary (Wanda) Childress of Trussville, AL; grandchildren, Shane (Shannon) Seiber, Wendy (Marc) Newland, Gary (Audrey) Childress, Jr. Christy (Hank) Goranflo and Eric Phillips; 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; special friend, Louise Lawson. A special thanks to her caregivers, Judy Norton, Donna Sutter, Barbara Baker and Kim Sanders.
Funeral services, Monday, January 25, 2016, 7:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Myers, Rev. Eddie Sawyer, Rev. Mike Vincent and Rev. Herb Jones officiating. Interment graveside services will be Tuesday, 9:00am at Greenwood Cemetery, Knoxville, TN. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00pm prior to services at FARRAR FUNERAL HOME, DANDRIDGE
