BILLY JOE BARNES SR.

Billy Joe Barnes Sr., age 80, of White Pine, departed this life on Wednesday morning, January 27, 2016 at the Heritage Center in Morristown.

Billy Barnes Sr obituaryBilly was born in Cosby on December 1, 1935 to Kelse Barnes and the former Desserie Gilliland. He married Charlcie Toby on June 26, 1957 in Dandridge and they moved to White Pine in 1962. Billy farmed from the time he was a teenager until his health prevented him from working in the fields. Having professed his faith and baptized as a young man, he grew up in the Church of God faith. His wife preceded him in death in January 2011.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Margaret (Williamson) Barnes and James I. and Lurie (Jenkins) Gilliland; a son, Billy Barnes Jr.; granddaughter, Kathy Danielle Barnes; sisters, Grace Whitlock and Vickie Howard; brother, Larry O’Dell Barnes; step-father, David Gray; step-mother, Rose Barnes; several siblings who died in infancy and early childhood; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and other relatives.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Shawn Hemsworth; granddaughter, Elizabeth Charlcie Hemsworth; granddaughter and her husband, Cindy and Jason Webb; great-granddaughters, Diamond Daniels and Lily Webb; daughter-in-law, Kathy Fralix; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer and Betty Barnes and Donald and Vivian Barnes; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Welgin Holt; step-sister and her husband, Rosemary and Albert Raines; step-brother and his wife, Larry and Linda Gray; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, J.C. and Dorothy Toby; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Tolliver; brother-in-law, Hubert Love; step-grandchildren, Eric, Dallas and Samantha Hemsworth; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; his beloved pets, Kaci, Honey, Salty and Boomerang; and special friends and caregivers at The Heritage Center.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, January 29, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. with the Reverend Lynda Smith officiating.

Family and friends will meet at Resthaven Memorial Gardens at 10:45 a.m. for the 11 a.m. interment on Saturday, January 30.
