GORDON R. WARDWELL

Gordon Richardson Wardwell, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016. Gordon was born on November 18, 1940 in Lewiston, Maine, the son of the late Cyrus and Edna Wardwell. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Judy “Chick” Wardwell and his sisters, Joan Clement and Annette Carter. He is survived by his children: Sheila (Chad) Kageleiry of Dover, NH, Kimberly Studebaker and husband Bill of Parrottsville, TN; Karen Woody of Newport, TN; Kendra Neville of Hampstead, NH; grandchildren, Megan Woody, Amelia and Ivy Studebaker, Thea and James Kageleiry, sister, Carolyn Dow of Portsmouth, NH and close friend, Darlene Clabo. Gordon graduated from Exeter High School, Class of 1958, after which he joined the US Navy and was stationed at Pearl Harbor as a submariner, and served aboard the USS Tiru and the USS Carbonero. He was a member of IBEW Local 490 as a master electrician, retiring after 40 years. He was also a member of American Legion Post #32 in Exeter, NH and Amvets Post #7 in Morristown, TN. Gordon enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, cheering for the Patriots, playing poker and sharing an ice cold beer with friends and family. He will be missed. Gordon will be laid to rest next to his wife Judy at a later date in Berwick, Maine.
