Tennessee State Park Hosts Statewide Hikes to Celebrate Spring

Tennessee’s 56 State Parks are hosting statewide hikes and a photo contest on March 19 to celebrate the coming of spring.

All hikes will be guided by Park staff who can speak to the natural, cultural and historical treasures that Tennessee State Parks has to offer. From the cypress swamps of the Mississippi River in West Tennessee to the rugged ridge tops and waterfalls in the middle of the state to the majestic mountains in the East, every Park showcases a unique piece of Tennessee’s outdoor beauty.

“Spring is a great time to get outdoors to your favorite park or explore one you haven’t been to before,” said Deputy Commissioner for Parks and Conservation Brock Hill. “The activities on March 19th are part of a larger series of statewide hikes featuring family-friendly and challenging experiences.”

The wide selection of events across Tennessee ensures that everyone can find a hike suitable for them. Hikes will range in distance, degree of skill, accessibility, and time of day in an effort to accommodate the needs of anyone who seeks to enjoy a day outdoors. Planned activities along the trails include wildlife viewing, spring clean-ups, scavenger hunts, historical interpretive programs and more.

To participate in the Spring Hike Photo Contest, post your photo at a Tennessee State Park on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #springhikeTN for a chance to win Tennessee State Parks merchandise.
