The new Jefferson County Emergency Combination Building received a new Patriotic addition last week, thanks to the generous contribution from Modern Woodmen of America. Two local Modern Woodmen of America chapters joined together to provide a flag pole for the new facility.

The 30 ft tall aluminum flag pole is adorned with a 15 inch eagle on top. Modern Woodman Representative Richard Hall and Jefferson County Facilities Director David Longmire coordinated the donation, which is a part of the Modern Woodman’s Good Neighbors Project. The $1,000 donation for the flag pole is consistent with the group’s pledge toward beautification or repair of community structures or environments. In a dedication, last week the stately flag pole was presented to Jefferson County.

In addition to the flag pole, a tree and engraved stone in honor of the late David Voiles, a dedicated member of E-911 of Jefferson County, was donated by More Than Plants of Strawberry Plains. Both the flag and tree/stone can be viewed at the new Combination Emergency Facility located beside Tennova Hospital (Jefferson Memorial Hospital).
