Rush Strong Elementary school was visited Wedneday by the folks from Mayfield Dairy Farm.  All the children at school that day got a very special treat of Mayfield Ice Cream because of Mary Morris, a teacher at Rush Strong Elementary.

Back in January, Morris, who is a third grade teacher at Rush Strong, uploaded a parody video titled “Snow” to the tune of Adele’s hit song “Hello,” expressing her disdain over the lack of snow so far over the winter.   Turns out that Morris had a bit of a hit on her hands, and the video went viral.  2.7 million views later, the teacher has become quite the local celebrity.

During the video, at about the 4:05 mark, Morris consumes a half gallon of Mayfield Ice Cream and watches Netflix.  Scotty Mayfield of Mayfield Dairy Farms received an email alerting him to it, and decided to treat the whole student body with the cool sweet treat.

“It’s an unexpected treat,” Morris said Wednesday.  “It’s not something I planned on, or expected, but it’s definitely wonderful that the entire school can benefit.”  When asked how it’s been since the video went viral, she said “Its been strange, but it’s been exciting.  It’s definitely not something I’m used to, being recognized out in public.  It’s been a blast, the kids have enjoyed it, the parents have enjoyed it, and certainly the teachers have.  It’s been a lot of fun.”

“We got tipped off about the video by an email,” Scotty Mayfield said, “and of course, as soon as we watched it, we all got overly excited.  So, you know, it’s just neat to have that kind of notoriety and to be a part of something like this.  So we thought a way to reward her was to treat the school.”

Morris is now trying to come up with ideas for next year, and knows that the class coming up next year “is expecting something big.”
