Carson-Newman University’s Jazz Ensemble Hosts “Jazz On The Law”, April 26, 2016

Carson-Newman University’s Jazz Ensemble will host its annual “Jazz on the Lawn” Tuesday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and picnic dinners to the Tarr Music Center lawn to listen to the concert.

Associate Professor of Music and Director of Bands Pat Bivens says the ensemble will perform songs from all over the jazz spectrum, including 1940s big band style, worship and modern pieces.

“Jazz is a true American art form and it is very difficult to find a place to hear big band music live unless you live near a university or a military band,” Bivens says.

In the event of rain the concert will be in Gentry Auditorium in the Henderson Humanities Building, and start time will be pushed to 7 p.m.

Tarr Music Center is located along Russell Avenue on Carson-Newman’s campus.
