The Jefferson County Republican Party hosted their annual Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner last weekend at the Dandridge Activity Center. Last year the GOP took a different approach to the traditional program and this year they took advantage of the new, more casual venue to interject some humor into the event. Political, conservative comedian Brad Stine was the headliner for the evening, bringing the red party to their feet with his talents. Stine poked fun at the current issues facing the nation, often engaging good natured members of the audience in his act.

Paula Rugel Gibson gave the welcome and Barry Fain did introductions of Stine and elected officials. On the national level, Congressmen Duncan and Roe were on hand for the dinner and show. State Senator Niceley and Representatives Farmer and Faison were also present for the festivities. The five dignitaries individually addressed local party members from the podium, giving a brief outline of current issues in their respective areas. Several local elected officials were also in attendance.

Vickie Forgety announced the recipient of the Barbara McAndrew Award. Judy Cavanah was this year’s award winner and was recognized for her commitment to the Jefferson County Republican Party. Committee Chairwoman Paula Rugel Gibson was given roses in appreciation of her time.

Buddy’s BBQ served as caterer for the event and table arrangement were provided by More Than Plants.
