Mt. Horeb Holds Annual Field Day

Mt. Horeb Elementary held their annual Field Day event Wednesday for kindergarten and first grade students. The purpose of the event was to get students active and allow them a break from their usual school day routine. Students got a chance to run off their extra energy with proud parents peppering the stands cheering them on.

Field Day is comprised of various physical events that are deemed appropriate for each grade level. Organizers of the event want to not just focus on winning and competing, but rather on students’ taking an active part in their physical education. Around 90 students took part in the day’s events, ending with a tug of war match between all competitors. Field day is a welcome reminder to all students and teaches that the end of the school year is fast approaching and with it summer vacation is just around the corner.
