Congratulations to the JCHS Class of 2016
Thousands gathered Saturday morning to celebrate the Jefferson County High School Class of 2016. The air buzzed with excitement as the 40th Commencement Ceremony was held at Walters State Expo Center in White Pine.
The Class of 2016 had humble beginnings four years ago. They entered the doors of JCHS their freshman year to face uncertainty and a back lot full of portable classrooms. These graduating seniors endured a full overhaul of the JCHS building, and walked out graduates of one of the most state-of-the-art schools in the region. Not only has the Class of 2016 met expectations, they have exceeded them.
This year’s graduating class boasted over 400 students; 137 of those graduated with honors, many of them with high honors. Honors Students were honored and recognized during the ceremony by Dr. Monty Sharp. Students Spencer Edmonds and Kaitlyn Zander both addressed the class with many memories of their years at Jefferson County. Dr. Monty Sharp also gave wise words to the graduates, who were anxiously awaiting the moment they have worked so hard to achieve: the presentation of their diplomas.
The Jefferson County Post would like to congratulate the Jefferson County High School Class of 2016 on their countless achievements and for making your community “Patriot Proud.”
