Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union celebrated the grand opening of its Morristown West location with the cutting of a “money ribbon” on Friday, May 20.

More than 70 Credit Union employees, community members, small business owners and the Morristown Chamber of Commerce attended the ribboncutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Through the day, members and guests enjoyed free refreshments, door prizes and other giveaways.

Officially opening its doors on May 2, the Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union’s Morristown West grand opening was designed to celebrate the importance of the Morristown community to the Credit Union. During his opening remarks, President and CEO Glenn Siler emphasized that helping people is the number one priority of Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union.

“We strive to ensure we give our members the individual attention they need to secure their financial future,” Siler said. “Our greatest compliment is when someone brings their children or grandchildren to join the Credit Union. It means we have done our jobs right.”

The opening of the Morristown West location is the first in a longterm project where the Credit Union will remodel numerous branches throughout East Tennessee. Later this year, the Alcoa and Halls branches will receive upgraded interiors and the credit union will open a new branch in south Morristown. Like the Morristown West Branch, the Credit Union will collaborate with local historians to select unique images for each branch.

According to Marketing Director Kristina Howard, the historic images are integral to the design of the Credit Unions because they represent the history of the people whom Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union have served for more than 80 years.

“The images are a tribute to the history of the area where the branch is located, and to the people we serve,” Howard said. “As a locally owned business, we believe it is important to recognize and emphasize the community. And, without the individuals in each community, we wouldn’t be what we are today.”

Later in the afternoon, Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union broke ground on a new Morristown South location to open this fall at 5331 Winners Circle Road. The concept for the south location will be similar to the west location, also paying tribute to the Morristown community.

Tammy Combs, future manager of the Morristown South Branch, is excited to be able to better serve Credit Union members in Green, Jefferson and Cocke counties, in addition to Hamblen County members.

“We have a lot of members in those areas rushing into Morristown on Friday afternoon before close, and we’re excited to be able to serve them in a location more convenient for them,” she said. “This was a key consideration in selecting that location.”
