MEDIC Holiday Schedule

Urgent Need for O Negative

Medic Regional Blood Center reminds everyone that the need for blood never takes a break or a holiday. In fact, according to their reports, the need for blood can actually increase this time of year due to increased travel throughout our region. “We currently have an urgent need for O Negative—the universal blood type that is most often used during emergency situations when blood type is not known,” informs Christi Fightmaster, Medic spokesperson. To sweeten the pot and encourage donors to give blood on Christmas Eve, Medic is offering a random drawing for the December 30th Tennessee Titans game in Nashville along with a hotel stay. Drives are open until 2pm on Christmas Eve, including our two donor centers.

Medic’s will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day but open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. “We just simply cannot go two days in a row without collecting blood. Just because we are closed does not mean area patients are not in need of live-saving blood. We have to keep up with the demand since we are the sole provider of blood for our area,” states Fightmaster. Donors are welcome at either donor center: 1601 Ailor Avenue or 11000 Kingston Pike.
