Dandridge Golf Course hosted a Rallying for Rhett charity golf event on Saturday. The goal was to raise money for the continued needs of baby Rhett and his family as they are seeking medical treatment at Vanderbilt University. Rhett was born with a condition called crainosynostosis, in which one or more joints between the bones and skull of the baby’s brain close permanently before the skull itself can be fully formed. Along with this, Rhett also suffers from hydrocephalus: a buildup of fluid in the cavities deep within the brain.

The community recognized that the family had a lot on their plate and wanted to help alleviate any extra needs they may have. With the generosity of the community, the golf tournament and silent action came about. Participants consisting of 27 teams of 4 could win prizes donated from local businesses and churches. State Farm sponsored any extra shots taken by players. The family especially wanted to thank the multitude of local businesses that donated and volunteers that took part, as well as send a special thanks to Brad and Heather Jones for the organization of the tournament, and went on to say that they were touched by the outpouring of support they had received from the community. Rhett has undergone 3 brain surgeries and has had many complications. He will undergo a 4th brain surgery in a couple of months.
