General Jimmy Dunn Continues Leadership of District Attorneys
District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn of Cocke County was elected president of the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference at its annual meeting. He previously served on the Conference’s Executive Committee for several years. As District Attorney for the 4th Judicial District, Dunn serves Cocke, Grainger, Jefferson and Sevier counties.
As Conference president, Dunn will lead oversight of the Conference administration that includes budgeting, accounting, payroll, personnel and property management for all District Attorneys’ offices throughout the state. Other Conference tasks include training for new and experienced Assistant District Attorneys General, Criminal Investigators, and Victim Witness Coordinators, and advising the Tennessee General Assembly on improvements in the criminal justice system.
“General Dunn’s experience and common-sense approach are valuable assets in coordinating the efforts of all District Attorneys General against criminal activity in the state,” said Executive Director Jerry N. Estes. “We are fortunate to have leaders like Jimmy Dunn who are not afraid to make hard decisions and who are committed to finding solutions to difficult problems.”

Dunn served as an Assistant District Attorney for over 17 years and was first elected District Attorney for the 4th Judicial District in August 2006. He is a graduate of the East Tennessee State University and the Nashville School of Law. He and his wife, Karene, who make their home in Newport, are the parents of two adult children, Lauren and Bruce. They are grandparents of Alli Jean Dunn of Lebanon, Tenn.
