Carson-Newman College Named “College of Distinction” for 2016-2017

Carson-Newman University has been named for the third year in a row a “College of Distinction,” and a “Christian College of Distinction” for 2016-2017. Area high-school counselors and other educators come together every year to nominate colleges and universities that they deem exemplary in education. Carson-Newman received the award based on the Colleges of Distinction’s four basic criteria.

The Colleges of Distinction’s focus is particularly placed on engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community, and successful outcomes. When asked about bestowing the honors on Carson Newman, Tyson Schritter, the executive editor of Colleges of Distinction, stated, “With an added emphasis on hands-on techniques, Colleges of Distinction applauds the University for practicing methodologies that prepare students for their future.” Carson-Newman expects that current and future students will be proud to receive an education from an institution that focuses on teaching and preparing them for their life’s calling. Carson-Neman University was founded in 1851.
