CHARLIE SENTER

Charlie Senter, age 87 of Talbott, TN passed away peacefully at home with family on August 7, 2016. Charlie was a retired teacher from the Hamblen County School System and Morristown City Schools where he taught for 32 years. He also was an instructor at Carson-Newman University, East TN State University, Walters State Community College, and All Saints Episcopal School. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Nelson Senter and Minnie Lee Senter, sisters, Mary Harriet Senter Raines, Angie Pauline Senter, and Rosie Lee Senter Cameron, brothers, James Horace, John William, Pleasant Franklin, Robert Sebern, and Hugh Nelson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Emma Margaret Brown Senter, daughters, Lisa Senter McDonald and Jane Senter Alford, 4 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Charlie’s drive and calling in life was to teach and to share his faith in God. He spent many years facilitating Adult and Literacy Education Classes, and helped to establish the Lakeway Reading Council. After retirement, Charlie and Emma volunteered for several short-term mission trips with the North American Mission Board, SBC, where they instructed adults and children in tutoring programs in mission organizations and churches. Being long time members of First Baptist Church of Morristown, Charlie also taught many Sunday School classes and enjoyed maintaining the church library. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 with Rev. Danny Georges officiating. The family will gather at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 10:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
