CLIFFORD LEONARD

Clifford Leonard, 92, of the Piedmont Community in Dandridge, TN went peacefully home on January 15, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) and Martha Leonard; brothers, Claude Leonard and James Leonard; and sister, Thelma French. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Frances Leonard; son, Charles (Betty Jo) Leonard, of Jefferson City; daughter, Claudia (Doug) Seals of Jefferson City; grandson, Noel (Emily) Seals of Asheville, NC; granddaughter, Beth (Andy) Fortner of Memphis; great granddaughters, Isabella, Hannah, and Piper; sisters, Helen Turner of Dandridge and Ruby (Bill) Brogan of Friendsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Clifford was a longtime member of the Piedmont Baptist Church. He worked at Magnavox and Tennessee Handbags, and he retired from the maintenance department of Carson-Newman College in 1989. He loved gardening, woodworking, and tending to his roses and flowers, which he especially enjoyed sharing with others. There were no strangers to Clifford, and he loved to make people laugh and smile. His favorite song “One Day at a Time” was so evident in his life, and he often said, “Every day is a good day; some days are just better.”
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of the Jefferson County Nursing Home for their great love, kindness, and support.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 17, 2017, from 5:00-7:00pm at Piedmont Baptist Church with funeral service to follow at 7:00pm, with Pastor Bob Neal officiating. Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 18, at the Piedmont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Piedmont Baptist Church, 1226 W.
