RANS DAMRON

RANS DAMRON, age 88, of Dandridge, TN passed away Thursday afternoon, April 6, 2017 at his home. He was born January 29, 1929 in Pikeville, KY, the son of the late Wayne and Dolly (McCown) Damron. Rans was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from Martin Marietta in 1991 after 36 years, and moved to Tennessee where he designed and built his house to face the Smokey Mountains. He was a member of the Crossroads Tabernacle Church in Newport and loved his family, church, the outdoors and golf. He was preceded in death by his son, Wade Damron; granddaughters, Shawna and Alicia Hall; sisters, Tennessee Rice, Ruth Kiser, Edith, Virginia and Loretta Damron; brothers, Wayne, Hobart and Fred Damron. Rans is survived by his wife, Helen (Dean) Damron; daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Bell and Pamela (John) Stiffler; sisters, Rose Wilt, Dorothy Roberts, Carol Harlow; brothers, Belve, Sterling and James Damron; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 9, 2017, 2:00pm at the Crossroads Tabernacle Church, 111 Diamond St., Newport, TN with Rev. Randy Swann officiating. Interment to follow at Dandridge Memorial Gardens with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Jefferson Co. Humane Society, P.O. Box 653, Jefferson City, TN 37760.
