EARL MATHENY, SR

EARL MATHENY, SR., age 70 of Dandridge, TN formerly of Pikeville, KY passed away Tuesday evening, April 11, 2017. He was a retired coal miner having worked many years for the Scotts Branch Coal Mine of Pikeville, KY. Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Army, member of the Zebulon Church of Christ and the Muddy Creek Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Josh Jr., Harold, Glenn Matheny, William “Bill”, Sammie Jr. and Jim Fraley; sisters, Betty Jean Matheny Fraley and Gelois Matheny and is survived by his wife, Vonda Sue (Varney) Matheny; children, Donna Sue Smith, Angela Kay Matheny, Earl Matheny, Jr and his wife Sonya; grandchildren,Zackary Earl Matheny, Bret Coggins, Stephanie Sue Smith and fiancé`Jason Kraklau and his children, Timber and Bali; brother, Charlie Fraley of Draffin, KY; sisters, Janice Rose of Elkhorn, Ky and Carol Ryan of Ohio; babygirls, Reese and Shiloh. The family extends a special thank you to the nurses, doctors and Smoky Mountain Hospice for their special care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017, 11:00am at the Muddy Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Sherrod officiating.
