BERTHA ISABELLE ROWLETT DAY

BERTHA ISABELLE ROWLETT DAY, age 76, of Talbott, TN, went home to be with her Savior on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Born March 30, 1941, in Middlesboro, KY, Bertha Isabelle Rowlett was the 9th child of the late William Ardell Rowlett, and the firstborn of the late Bertha Isabelle Billingsley Rowlett. Throughout life, including two battles with cancer, Isabelle was supported by the prayers and visits of family and countless friends, especially dear childhood friends. A former Bell-South switchboard operator and retired postal clerk with 30 years service, Isabelle worked at the Talbott, New Market, and Dandridge Post Offices. Active in church her entire life, she was a member of Talbott Baptist Church for 50 years where she served as a Sunday School and VBS teacher, church secretary, and choir member, as well as being a WMU and Gideon Auxiliary member. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: William Ardell (Betty) Rowlett, Jr. of Ferndale, MI; Margie (Bob) Haley of Middlesboro, KY; Verda (Harold) Engle of Fayetteville, NC; Arvile (Margaret) Rowlett of Middlesboro, KY; Herschel (Jo) Rowlett of Middlesboro, KY; Alma Jean (Lawrence) Head of Anawalt, WV; Verlin Rowlett of Ypsilanti, MI; and Colleen (Bill) Chumley of Speedwell, TN. Isabelle is survived by Alva Day, son of the late Noal and Georgia Hendrickson Day, her cherished husband of 56 years; beloved children, Cynthia Loraine (Scott) Spitler of Maryville; Christina Isabelle (Tony) Patterson, and Craig Alva Day of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Christina Elise, Michael Day and Charles Alva Scott Spitler; and Georgia Katharine and Asher Craig Day; brother, Wayne (Claudia) Rowlett of Gray, KY; sister-in-law, Emma Loraine Day (Don) Gent of Hamilton, OH; brothers-in-law, Ules (Linda) Day of Middlesboro, KY, and Kenneth (Linda) Day of Harrogate, TN; and dozens of devoted nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at Talbott Baptist Church with Dr. Damon Patterson and Rev. Mike Henegar officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Isabelle was a strong Christian whose legacy of love, patience, hard work and long-suffering blessed all who knew her.
