Heavy rains plummeted the area last week leaving much of Jefferson County in standing puddles of water. Following a spurt of Spring like temperatures, local residents received a temperature shock as the thermometer plummeted on Thursday, ushering out the warm air and replacing it with a return to Winter. Some of the coldest temperatures of the season are expected to hit the area early in the week, leaving prematurely sprouting daffodils dazed and confused. . If forecast predictions are correct, and as any East Tennessee resident knows-East Tennessee weather is rarely predictable, locals can look forward to a return to dry and cool days late in the week. As for those Spring flowers that began arriving much too early, experts say that as long as the flower buds are still not out then the flower has a good chance of surviving until Spring, however, a little Winter mulch might just be the buffer that early bloomers need until warmer weather is here to stay.
