HELEN ELIZABETH RILEY STRANGE

Helen Elizabeth (Riley) Strange, age 95, of Dandridge, TN, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the oldest member of Nina Missionary Baptist Church. She was a retired cafeteria worker at Swannsylvania Elementary School. For years Helen was an active member of the Gideon’s International Auxiliary, Jefferson County Camp. She was preceded in death by her parents Treeva & Mina Newman Riley of Dandridge; husband Ponder “P O” Strange; brothers John T. Riley and Cleophas Riley; sisters Betty Jean White and Kathleen Edmonds. She is survived by: Daughters and sons-in-law Sarah Donnie & Robert Denton of White Pine; Jo & Kenny Martin of Lithia Springs, GA; Son and daughter-in-law Ponder (Sonny) & Brenda Strange, II of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sister Ogle Mae Ailey of Dandridge; sister-in-law Kate Riley of Dandridge; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to all who have cared for her over the past few years, all who visited, called and prayed for her. She will be greatly missed by her family, many friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday February 2, 2018 followed by a Celebration of Life service at Nina Missionary Baptist Church. Graveside service will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Swann’s Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Norris (Pastor & friend) officiating.
