BETTY JEAN COLLINS

Betty Jean Collins, 81, long time resident of Jefferson City, Tennessee living in Newnan, Georgia, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018.
She was devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to everyone who knew her.

Betty grew up in Jefferson City and lived there until 2013 when she moved to Georga so that she could be taken care of by her loving children. In her younger years, she was formerly employed by Dandridge Sock Factory, Miller’s Department Store and Neil Moss Furniture Factory. She was married to Ed Collins for 54 years before his passing. During their blessed marriage, Ed was the pastor of Northview Church Of God and Betty was a true pastor’s wife who devotied her life to be a living example of a child of God. Her relationship with Jesus was a living one. Jesus Christ was the Light of her soul, and she walked with him, prayed with a passion, power, understanding and many tears. She loved to talk of the Lord to everyone and share her story. She was a woman of great courage who faced every problem with confidence and in complete reliance upon her ever-present Lord. Betty was a holy woman who delightfully served her husband, children and any one she met. Betty loved her children and pointed them to her greatest treasure, Jesus Christ, the lamb of God.

Betty was selfless in every aspect about the way she lived and gave to others. She was an Angel who always gave more than she ever had to give, asking or expecting nothing in return. She rejoiced in the prospect of going to heaven and meeting her Lord. She sang with other members of Northview Church Of God in a traveling choir, The Victory Aires, for many years spreading the love of Christ. She loved to talk about her grandchildren and share so many stories she had lived, both funny and sad. She was graced by the hand of God and was cherished by everyone who knew her. She loved sending cards, letters, trinkets and anything pertaining to the Lord to everyone she knew. Her legacy is one of pure love, unconditional and unbounding. She often sat and talked about the streets of gold and white robe that she wanted everyone to receive when they gave their hearts to Jesus. She kept this same sweet spirit until she drew her last breath with her two most blessed children by her side.
Betty is preceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, Rev. Ed Collins; son, William Randle Collins; parents, William Raymond and Sarah Alice Jarnigan and sister, Janice (Floyd) Gregg.
