Two Individuals with Counterfeit Bills Charged

Two individuals have been charged after being found in possession of counterfeit money and a stolen car on Monday afternoon.

The Morristown Police Department (MPD) has seen an increase in reports of counterfeit money, specifically ten- and twenty-dollar bills, being circulated to local businesses in recent weeks.

Justin Easton, 35, and Jessica Miller, 23, both of Morristown were arrested after members of the MPD’s Criminal Apprehension Unit discovered them in a vehicle stolen from East Tennessee Nissan. Inside the vehicle, officers found three sheets of uncut counterfeit bills in ten- and twenty-bill denominations.

Both Easton and Miller were charged with Theft of Property for the motor vehicle and Criminal Simulation. They were taken to the Hamblen County Jail.

The MPD continues to urge businesses to check bills they accept and report any potentially counterfeit currency.
