Kevin Poe, Jefferson County Circuit Court Clerk

Kevin Poe is announcing his candidacy for re-election as Jefferson County Circuit Court Clerk in the May 3 Republican Primary. Born and raised in Jefferson County, Kevin has lived a career committed to public service, beginning at a young age with his enlistment in the US Army, following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Kevin has been honored to serve Jefferson County for the past four (4) years as Circuit Court Clerk. When sworn in in 2018, he took office with several very specific service-oriented goals:

  • Streamline court processes to maximize efficiency;
  • Integrate technology, while maintaining manual backup methods;
  • Partner with the District Attorney’s and Public Defender’s offices to provide remote access to court documents;
  • Maintain and continually update a public website for citizens to access filed cases, to the extent allowed by law;
  • Implement a system to accept credit and debit payments at the window and online;
  • Establish a 24/7 online payment option; and
  • Enact a 24/7 phone payment option.

Not only were each of those goals accomplished but many were implemented well ahead of schedule. In addition to those previous goals upon entering office, Kevin has also been able to partner with the County Clerk’s office to establish a convenient payments station at their Walmart satellite office on the North side of the county.

Kevin states, “My goal is and always has been to provide an environment where citizens and Officers of the Court feel comfortable, know their needs will be met, and their concerns are heard. Personal service is my absolute #1 priority.  If we only get one thing right, I want it to be that you felt like this office was accessible and responsive to your needs.”

Kevin is an alumnus of Walter State Community College and Austin Peay State University. He is an alumnus of Jefferson County Leadership (2013-2014) and holds certification as a Certified Public Administrator through the University of Tennessee.
