Jefferson County celebrated Memorial Day on May 30,2022 with a ceremony and presentation that began at the Historic Jefferson County Courthouse and ended at the Historic Revolutionary Cemetery in downtown Dandridge.

Master of Ceremonies was Major General Purser who also introduced guest speaker Jefferson County Mayor Potts. Participating in the event were members of the Jefferson County High School Band, the Jefferson County High School Kiwanis Key Club and the Jefferson County High School JROTC. Music was provided by Dandridge First United Methodist Church and the prayer was offered by DFUMC Reverend Kristin Burkhart. Pigeon Forge Honor Guard performed a rifle volley and Mayor Potts laid a wreath at the large monument at the cemetery. The JCHS Color Guard was directed by Colonel Purser. The event was enhanced by the presence of two soldiers dressed in revolutionary war uniforms and bagpipes being played by Luke Deghetto and Tracy Wilson. Daughters of the American Revolution provided the large wreath and stand for the decoration ceremony and the Dandridge Garden provided the smaller decorative wreathes which adorned other graves in the cemetery. Dandridge First United Methodist Church hosted a light reception following the ceremony.
