LAWN MOWER SAFETY DAY TO TAKE PLACE SATURDAY, MARCH 9, 2013

AT SMOKY MOUNTAIN MOWERS IN NEWPORT, TN.

Every year, more than 200,000 people are treated for lawn mower-related injuries, and thousands of them are children and teenagers. Knowing basic skills regarding mowing, appropriate attire to wear and guidelines on lawn mower safety can make a difference for adults and children before using a lawn mower.

That’s why East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Newport Medical Center, Smoky Mountain Mowers and First Call Ambulance Service are teaming up to provide information to families regarding lawn mower safety before the spring and summer mowing season begins.

On Saturday, March 9, Lawn Mower Safety Day will feature activities, food and lots of great giveaways beginning at 10 a.m. at Smoky Mountain Mowers in Newport. The event will offer information on safety while mowing, tips on making lawn care your business and information on lawn mower repair. The first 50 people to attend will receive safety glasses valued at $20, which are perfect for lawn mowing, and children in attendance will receive a certificate. This informative, fun-filled day is FREE to the public.

Lawn Mower Safety Day will be from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Smoky Mountain Mowers, 867 West Highway 25/70, Newport, TN, 37821. For more information regarding the event, call the Children’s Hospital Community Relations department at (865) 541-8165 or visit www.etch.com.
