Hog Heaven’s Annual Youth Shoot

Over 260 athletes from East and Middle TN along with 2 teams from KY participated. After the smoke cleared, four Patriot Shooter squads walked away with team honors and three individuals were the top shooter in their division. The five top Rookie shooters were Cora Cox, Nash Underwood, Reese Bennett, Sully Jones, and Jackson Nelms with a score of 280. They took first place team in their age group. The top five Intermediate Entry shooters were Cy Martin, Cade Harvey, Bryce Spurlock, Maverick Vaden, and Andy Nelms with a score of 430. They took the first place team award for their age group. Also, the top five Immediate Advanced shooters were Liz Nissen, Avery Davis, Emma Morgan, Sage Murdock, and Matt Spurlock . They took second place team with a score of 431. The top five Junior Varsity shooters which included Zach Carter, Luke Cornett, Shane Wilson, Hayden Bardwell, and Noah Lindsey took second place team honors with a score of 458. The top five Varsity shooters, though they didn’t medal, had a team score of 470. That group consisted of Lucas Buckner, Alex Jones, Conner Lawson, Aiden Morgan and Liam Kinderman.

The individual honors included the following. Liz Nissen took home high Intermediate Advanced female with a 96. Zach Carter was high male in JV with a personal best 99 along with a 75 straight patch. Zach broke 97 consecutive targets in his round. Lucas Buckner was the top Varsity male and the High Shooter overall for the event with a personal best 100. This was Lucas’ first 100 straight run. There were several other personal best scores during the day. Cy Martin broke 91 targets with 25 straight. Aiden Morgan shot a personal best 95 with 25 straight. Emma Morgan had her personal best of 92. Andy Nelms shot a personal best 82. Sullivan Jones shot a personal best of 67. Hayden Merritt shot a personal best of 59. A portion of the team will be traveling to the Nashville Gun Club on May 6th for the annual State 4-H Jamboree. Also, the team will be hosting its annual Dinner and Auction on May 13th at the Partriot Academy at 6 PM. Tickets will be available at the door. The team’s next competion at Hog Heaven Gun Club will be the SCTP Tennessee Regional Shoot on June 3rd.
