"I applaud students who seek honor in their future"

Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger held her third annual Military Service Academy Day for prospective students and their families in Tennessee’s First District who are interested in pursuing educational opportunities available at the United States Service Academies.
Held at the Kingsport Center for Higher Education, the following representatives from our nation’s elite military academies attended the event and spoke with students regarding course selections, extracurricular activities, and the unique programs they offer:
  • 2nd Lt. Alfred Flowers, U.S. Air Force Academy
  • Tennessee State Coordinator Patrick Walsh, U.S. Coast Guard Academy
  • Jake Abbott, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
  • Donald Elswick, Blue & Gold Officer, U.S. Naval Academy
  • Admissions State Coordinator Kaye Evans and Cadet Logan Streetman, U.S. Military Academy – West Point
Students also received an ROTC presentation from Keith Linville, Recruiting Operations Officer at East Tennessee State University.
“Every day, our country faces new threats from our ever-evolving adversaries across the globe,” said Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger. “Ensuring continued American dominance on the world stage begins with our next generation of military leadership, found right here in East Tennessee. I applaud students who seek honor in their future, and am thankful for all those who are currently serving, or have previously served, for their dedication to our country. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the various representatives from our Service Academies who attended this year’s event for their hard work to shed light on these incredible programs.”
