WILD BLUE YONDER – Appalachian Music at New Market Music Hall Nov. 3, 2023

Acoustic mountain Gospel, Old-Time and Celtic songs in Appalachian style are heart and soul of Wild Blue Yonder band, based in Knoxville. Cello and warm three-part harmonies mix with mandolin, banjo and guitar in a rootsy blend, honoring the musical traditions of the Smoky Mountains. The group will perform an intimate concert at the New Market Music Hall on Friday, November 3, at 6:30pm. The venue is an historic church located at 920 Churchview Street in New Market. Tickets are $7.00 and available in advance at www.smokymtshmcreations.com.

Wild Blue Yonder has performed professionally for more than 20 years across East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina and has produced three CDs. Their wide variety of Appalachian music can be heard on Spotify and other digital platforms. The group’s newest member is classically-trained cellist/vocalist Kristiana McCombs Arnwine, who recently won the Mountain Soul vocal competition in Sevier County. Also a proficient pianist and music teacher, she adds an angelic sparkle to the WBY Appalachian sound. Kristiana grew up in Illinois, but fell in love with the beautiful scenery and culture of Tennessee, where she now calls home.

Wild Blue Yonder’s sacred repertoire pays homage to the Christian foundations of Southern Appalachia, and members enjoy sharing the Gospel message with every audience. They also infuse each show with a Celtic air, offering a few songs from the British Isles in celebration of the Scots-Irish heritage of East Tennessee.
