Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services Visits Jefferson Academy’s Life Skills class

Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services, Deputy Director, Melissa Cotter visited Jefferson Academy’s Life Skills class on October 23, 2023, to Educate students about job responsibilities of EMS (Emergency Medical Services) professionals and the harmful effects of substance abuse.  Jefferson County E.M.S. professionals play a crucial role in providing immediate medical care during emergencies, and it’s important for students to understand their contributions to public health and safety.

Discussing the harmful effects of drugs is also essential to raise awareness about the risks associated with substance abuse. This education can help students make informed decisions and avoid potentially dangerous situations involving drugs.

These kinds of outreach programs and educational initiatives can have a positive impact on the community by promoting health and safety awareness and potentially deterring risky behaviors. It’s commendable that Jefferson County EMS took the time to visit Jefferson Academy and share this important information with students.

Life Skills Training is being led by Coordinated School Health, Melissa Whitaker, and Rescue 180 Drug coalition, Keith Shultz
