Tragic Collision in Jefferson County: Paramedic Killed, Another Injured in Ambulance Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer

A tragic accident occurred on Saturday night in Jefferson County, resulting in the death of paramedic Jeremy Sutton and injuring Sarah Brooks. The crash took place around 9:30 p.m. on Interstate 40 near the I-81 interchange. Both Sutton and Brooks sustained injuries and were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on I-40 West and involved a tractor-trailer. A preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) revealed further details, indicating that the ambulance was traveling southbound on I-81, while the tractor-trailer was on I-40 West, merging onto I-81.

Mayor Mark Potts had the following remarks – Jefferson County mourns the loss of Paramedic Jeremy Sutton who passed away last night as a result of an ambulance accident while on duty. Our prayers and sympathy are extended to his family and to all our public safety employees.  Also, Remember Paramedic Sarah Brooks who was also injured in the accident. We pray for Sarah and her family.
