Mike Chambers, a long-serving member of the Dandridge Board of Mayor and Aldermen, has officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of Dandridge in the upcoming November election.

Chambers, a fifth-generation Jefferson County resident, has lived in Dandridge his entire life. With 28 years of service on the town’s governing board, including previous experience as Vice Mayor, he is currently the longest-tenured member.

“I love Dandridge,” Chambers said. “From the time I was riding my bike past the courthouse until now, I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. It would be an honor to serve as Mayor, working hard on behalf of our citizens.”

Chambers emphasized his commitment to maintaining Dandridge’s small-town charm while supporting growth that will not strain the local infrastructure, including the school system. Known for his advocacy of fiscal responsibility, Chambers reaffirmed his stance against unnecessary taxes on city residents.

“I believe public office should be about improving the community, not personal financial gain,” Chambers said. “If elected, I plan to donate 25% of the Mayor’s $1,450 monthly salary to a fund benefiting city employees.”

A small business owner since 1998, Chambers holds an associate degree in business from Walters State Community College and a bachelor’s degree in business from Tusculum College. He expressed a deep understanding of the challenges small business owners face and pledged to ensure they continue to thrive in Dandridge.

“I want to see responsible and reasonable growth in our town. With my semi-retired status, I’ll be able to fully dedicate my time to city meetings and any necessary travel for city business,” he added. Chambers also indicated support for increasing transparency by exploring ways to make council meetings accessible for citizens to view online.

A lifelong member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Dandridge, Chambers and his wife of 46 years, Patti Sams Chambers, have two children and four grandchildren.

The mayoral race is set to take place in November.
