House honors Susie Wiles, first woman named White House chief of staff
The Tennessee House of Representatives on Jan. 27 passed House Joint Resolution 50, honoring Susie Wiles, the first woman to serve as White House chief of staff.
A New Jersey native, Wiles began her political career as an assistant to former U.S. Rep. Jack Kemp of New York. She went on to serve in key roles, including campaign scheduler for President Ronald Reagan and advisor to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ successful gubernatorial race. She also served as chief executive officer for Trump’s Save America political action committee.
The resolution states, “We recognize and congratulate Susie Wiles on her appointment to serve as the next White House Chief of Staff, wishing her every success as she assumes this imperative role in the next presidential administration.”
HJR 50 was sponsored by Republican Caucus Chairman Jeremy Faison, R- Cosby.
“It is encouraging to see lawmakers from both sides of the aisle come together to celebrate Susie Wiles’ remarkable achievement,” Faison said. “I have no doubt she will excel at guiding President Donald Trump’s administration through the challenges of getting America back on track.”
Wiles, who began her term as White House Chief of Staff on Jan. 20, is celebrated not only for her leadership but also for breaking new ground as the first woman to hold the position.
