Boating Safety Courses Offered at Carson-Newman University, March 15, 2025

The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will present two separate BOAT AMERICA recreational boating safety courses on Saturday, March 8th, at the Church at Sterchi Hills, 904 Dry Gap Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918, and on Saturday, March 15th, at Carson-Newman University, 1645 Russell Avenue, Jefferson City, TN, 37760.

Taught by experienced, certified Coast Guard Auxiliarists, you will learn how to prepare, operate, and navigate your boat safely on local waters.  Additionally, you will practice the knots most used in powerboating.  Questions are strongly encouraged during class. The instructors will be available after class for additional boating questions. Our goal is to help make boating as safe as possible for you, your family, and your friends through education.

Attendees born on or after January 1, 1989, who pass the exam will receive a completion card that meets the Tennessee Boater Education Certificate requirements. Those needing the Tennessee Boater Education Certificate must first obtain a TWRA registration, which costs $10.00, and pay it separately to the issuing agency, such as Walmart or Academy Sports. This TWRA registration must be brought to class. The course fee is $25, separate from the TWRA registration fee, and must be paid at the time of class registration.

The registration deadline for the March 8th class is March 4th, and the registration deadline for the March 15th class is March 11th.  To register for either class or for more details, contact Mr. Randy Woods, Flotilla Staff Officer for Public Education, at randallwoods.uscgaux@gmail.com.
