Jefferson County Youth Leadership Class attending Dandridge Board of Mayor and Aldermen Meeting

The Jefferson County Youth Leadership Class recently attended the Dandridge Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting as part of their program to learn about local government and community leadership. Sponsored by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, the Youth Leadership Class aims to promote awareness of local government functions and inspire future leaders within the community.

Youth Leadership Class member Alexa Longmire led the meeting by opening with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, setting a respectful and patriotic tone for the evening.

During the meeting, students observed the decision-making process and gained insight into how local officials address important issues affecting the town. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the students to see civic engagement in action and understand the responsibilities of local leaders.

Chamber Director Shelia Wiggins accompanied the group and emphasized the program’s mission to cultivate leadership skills and encourage civic involvement among the county’s youth.
