GOP Chairman Jeremy Faison encourages Tennesseans to take advantage of sales tax holiday

The state’s annual back-to-school tax-free weekend, designated by the Tennessee General Assembly, begins Friday, July 25 at 12:01 a.m. and ends Sunday, July 27 at 11: 59 p.m.

“The Volunteer State leads the nation in fiscal stability, conservative governance and low taxes because we believe Tennesseans know best how to spend their own money,” Faison said. “Sales tax holidays are a great opportunity for families to save on essential items, but also to support their local businesses.”

  • General apparel valued at $100 or less per item, such as shirts, pants, socks, shoes, dresses, etc.
  • School and art supplies with a purchase price of $100 or less per item, such as binders, crayons, backpacks, paper, pencils, etc.
  • Computers and tablets for personal use priced at $1,500 or less
