TennCare Announces Change in Dental Plan Management

TennCare, Tennessee’s Medicaid program, announced today that beginning November 1, 2025, Renaissance will manage all dental benefits for TennCare members. This change is part of TennCare’s ongoing commitment to improving access to high-quality dental care for members across the state.

TennCare provides extensive dental benefits for all members, including two preventive cleanings each year, x-rays, and more. With Renaissance as the new dental benefits manager, members may see changes in which dentists are in their network.

To make the transition as smooth as possible:

  • Renaissance will assign each member a dentist and send a letter with the dentist’s information.
  • Whenever possible, members will keep their current dentist, but changes may occur if the dentist is not in the Renaissance network or if there is a closer dentist to the member’s home.
  • Members can change dentists anytime using the Find a Dentist tool on Renaissance’s member portal.

“We want to ensure that every TennCare member has access to quality dental care close to home,” said TennCare Chief Dental Officer Dr. Kristin Compton, DMD. “Our partnership with Renaissance will help strengthen our network and make it easier for members to get the care they need.”

“Renaissance is proud to partner with TennCare to deliver exceptional dental benefits to members across Tennessee,” said David Pemberton, Renaissance State Market Director. “We are committed to providing a strong network of dentists, excellent customer service, and the tools members need to improve their oral care.”

Members should bring their TennCare health plan card (BlueCare, Wellpoint, UnitedHealthcare, or TennCare Select) to all dental appointments.
