Gail Weaver Farzanegan Announces Candidacy for Jefferson County Commission District 8

Gail Weaver Farzanegan

Gail Weaver Farzanegan is announcing her candidacy for Jefferson County Commission District 8. Farzanegan has lived in District 8 for over a quarter of a century. She has witnessed a 30% population growth and has become concerned that the necessary infrastructure and county services have not kept up with this tremendous growth. Some of her concerns are lack of affordable housing for young families and the lack of available housing due to the explosion of short-term rentals. She believes in long-term planning for the county to attract the right kind of growth and industry while maintaining the integrity and natural beauty of our county. She also is committed to ensure competitive pay for our teachers, law enforcement officers, and public service employees. Farzanegan believes that good government should be transparent to its citizens and foster good communication while always listening to the concerns and ideas of all who live here.

Farzanegan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Maryville College and then went on to receive a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee.

She taught high school mathematics and then worked at the Tennessee Valley Authority in their nuclear energy program. She later transferred to the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge over-seeing the computer hardware needs of all DOE’s contractors. She is trained I long-range planning, facilitation and mediation. These skills are vital for serving on the Jefferson County Commission.

She would be honored to serve and advocate for the interests of the residents of District 8 and the people of Jefferson County.
