Jefferson County Schools offers “free” preschool programs at 7 elementary schools in the county. All elementary schools, except Dandridge, offer PreK. Our quality PreK programs serve 20 children at each site and meet 5 days a week for 6 hours each day. Transportation is not provided.

Student Eligibility:

Placement in Prek is as follows:

  1. Students who are four years of age on or before August 15th, 2026:
    1. Those children who meet income eligibility with or without a disability.
    2. Dependent children whose parent was killed, died as a direct result of injuries received because of war or officially reported as prisoner of war or missing in action.
  2. After the 30th full day of school, children will be considered as follows:
    • Children four years of age, on or before August 15, 2026, with or without a disability and DO NOT meet income eligibility.
    • Children three years of age, on or before August 15, 2026, who meet income eligible or who are in TEIS or have been screened and identified as educationally at-risk and have an IEP.
    • Employees children who are four years of age on or before August 15, 2026, and reside outside the district.
  • Pre-Registration will be held at the Family Resource Center:

209 W. Dumplin Valley Road. (Coming from Hwy 92. turn onto W. Dumplin Valley Rd., drive past Jefferson County High School, on your left look for Family Resource sign, drive behind the brick building into a parking lot, we are in a portable building at the end of the parking lot. Look for Family Resource Center signs.)

Documents to bring: Child’s Birth Certificate (official copy); Proof of all household income or Proof of food stamps (income eligibility letter), Immunizations on Tennessee Certificate of Immunization, Proof of Physical exam, and Two Proofs of Residency (electric, utility, water, phone bill, cable/satellite, Driver’s License, Property taxes, deed, Bank Statement, Lease/mortgage, current Tennessee voter registration with your current name and address)
